  1. As if authors don’t have a hard enough time with out being prey for publishing companies. Many of the ones I’ve contacted (or been contacted by) – smaller ones – offer the same terms: you pay for everything and then get a tiny royalty OR they give you a very small advance, which they take back if the book doesn’t sell and you do the marketing! Why bother with them!
