In Memory of Real Humour

In my humble opinion, Ireland’s always irreverent Dave Allen (1936-2005) was one of the finest comedians ever to grace a stage and our television screens. I saw him live on stage during the nineteen seventies, on more than one occasion. Unlike the unfunny so-called comedians of today, Allen and the likes of Les Dawson always made their audience laugh, so much so, that it hurt. In other words, I’m talking about a comedian who can engender side splitting belly laughter. Sadly that kind of laughter has gone the way of the dinosaur since political correctness killed off humour.

R.I.P real humour. I miss you…
