  1. Of course, old people like me used libraries for research. Ordered books in from the national library. All for free. Every library had a Cook’s travel guide or whatever it was called that itemised the world’s railways. Railway erotica no less, but also useful, and things didn’t change fast back then.

    Our local library has those nice quaint little card tickety things. The librarians are helpful and friendly. Yes, there are computers, and a reference library (no Cook’s 😦 ) and achildren’s section. Even better, it’s just over the road.

    Maybe libraries need to change. But closing them? I could go on but /rant
